Read about MFT Friction Feeders:

APPLICATIONS

For all of your feeding needs, Multifeeder Technology has a solution for you. The MFT series of friction feeders is designed to handle a wide variety of products, with minimal changeover and setup. Whether you are individually feeding compact discs or batch counting 500 sheets of paper, we have a system to meet your specific requirements.

Friction Feeders

MFT friction feeders are frequently used for:

  • Placing coupons, leaflets or other promotional material onto a conveyor
  • Batch counting stacks of products and placing them on a wrapper's or cartoner's in-feed
  • Contract packaging of a variety of products including booklets, catalogs and promotional coupons
  • Counting and stacking products such as greeting cards or stationary

Fast enough to discharge products at over 245 m/min (9,645 in/min) and gentle enough to feed compact disks or photographs, MFT friction feeders and accessories are versatile and will adapt to your changing needs

For more information on the most reliable and highest performing friction feeders in the industry, please explore our product line or contact MFT directly.

Extended Discharge For Convenient Insert Placement

Multifeeder Technology designs and manufactures automatic friction feeding machines and systems that feed flat style products with unmatched performance. When space is limited on a production line, and a standard friction feeder is too large to be placed adjacent to, or over the line, an extended discharge allows easy access for the precise placement of these items onto or into the product loading zone. This design provides clients with a much broader applications capability, while assuring accurate high speed counting and placement of their inserts.

For a typical application, the conveyor flight advances, and it is sensed by the photo optic start sensor which allows the feeder to accurately place the insert onto or into the moving item. The product then advances into the next packaging operation such as shrink wrapping or horizontal form, fill and seal, or cartoning.

PackWorld.com featured a New Product release in their December issue.

Automatic High Speed Batch Counting or Interleaving of Products

Multifeeder Technology designs and manufactures automatic friction feeding machines and systems of unmatched performance. When joined with a PLC (programmable logic controller), two of the friction feeders provide a system to automatically alternately feed products into one stack, for precise control and accuracy. Products can be dissimilar, for example, a product followed by an instruction sheet, or similar, with or without a separator sheet.

The PLC signals the first feeder to feed and waits for a cycle complete signal before allowing the second feeder to feed. This insures that the first item has been fed.

The friction feeders feed one after the other to a predetermined count and automatically stop. The stack can be squared during the counting process. The accumulated stack is automatically or manually removed from the collating area ready for the next stacking operation to begin.

This system provides fast, accurate counts without the production concern of repetitive motion injuries that can occur in this process.

High Speed Automatic Feeding of Uneven and Bundled Products

Multifeeder Technology designs and manufactures automatic friction feeding machines and systems of unmatched performance. The feeding of uneven and bundled products has previously required hand loading making this labor intensive method slow and expensive.

The ability to automatically feed and collate at high speeds means the MFT Model 250 pays for itself quickly. The convenience and labor savings of using bundles of products, instead of individual products, is a growing trend that provides cost savings and ease of use for both the manufacturer and consumer.

The system in the photo includes an extended product infeed, the Model APL Automatic Product Loader, which provides additional loading capacity for the friction feeder. This allows the operator to attend to other equipment between loading cycles, since the operator is not required to load product as frequently as would be required with a smaller vertical infeed magazine.

Multifeeder's superior computer controlled servo motor technology monitors and controls the feeding and counting process, providing high speed and accurate product counts.

High Speed Accurate Counting with Properly Squared Stacks of Paper

Multifeeder Technology manufactures automatic paper feeding and collating systems that create square stacks of paper while accumulating accurately to the correct count. This system continuously aligns the stack in both the X and Y direction since it is very costly to automatically square stacks of paper after they have been accumulated. Excellent product eye appeal for customers is the result.

The squared stacks are then transferred onto the Collating conveyer specifically designed by Multifeeder to maintain the square stack of paper, monitors and controls the feeding and counting process, providing accurate product counts of unmatched speeds while gently maintaining optimum quality.

Save on Conveyor Costs and Space

The discharge of the Multifeeder Technology friction feeder provides an alternative to tasks that previously required a friction feeder and additional conveyor. Applications such as inkjet printing, wipe on labeling, tamp on labeling and bar code verification are some of the on-demand tasks that can now be performed directly on the discharge of the Multifeeder friction feeder discharge instead of an additional conveyor.

The discharge provides a steady and sturdy surface for a second machine to apply a label or code onto a product as it travels on the discharge of the Multifeeder Technology friction feeder. The feeders are controlled by an on board computer and a brushless servo-motor with encoder feedback to allow the feeder to present the products on the discharge at a consistent speed with tightly controlled starts and stops. The batch counting function of the feeder can be utilized to count a certain number of products into a group before addtional processing.

Straddle Mounted Collating Systems

Multifeeder Technology designs and manufactures automatic product feeding and collating systems that will count, accumulate and stack a variety of shapes, thickness and sized items for further packaging into film wrapping, cartons, trays, and other packaging methods.

The system consists of sufficient MFT friction feeders to feed the number of items to be collated. The products are deposited into flites of the conveyor as the conveyor advances. At each friction feeder station, a product is selected and placed into a flite, and each additional feeder station places an additional product on top of the accumulated stack in that flite of products. The accumulated products are then discharged from the system ready for further processing and packaging. Products can be identical or dissimilar in size and shape.

Each friction feeder is computer controlled with servo motor technology providing the most accurate and reliable friction feeding system available. This modular system is PLC controlled and can accommodate up to 64 friction feeder stations.

Mid-sized Collating Systems

Multifeeder Technology designs and manufactures automatic friction feeding machines and systems of unmatched performance. When joined with a PLC (programmable logic controller), two of the friction feeders provide a system to automatically alternately feed products into one stack, for precise control and accuracy. Products can be dissimilar, for example a product followed by an instruction sheet or, similar, with a separator sheet or without a separator sheet.

HD Rear Support

The HD (Heavy Duty) rear support assembly allows the MFT Friction Feeder family to feed large heavy products. This Heavy Duty rear support provides the proper support to hold large heavy stacks while allowing the feeder to gently feed products from the bottom of the stack. The rear support assembly is equipped with quick lock handles to make change over between different products simple and easy.
